We are proud to announce our INFORM 2020 Meeting has gone virtual October 27-28, 2020. With significant new research and best practices on the horizon, INFORM 2020 promises to be a very informative meeting!
Here are three reasons why you should participate in INFORM 2020:
GLOBAL REACH – Our 2019 Meeting in Amsterdam the Netherlands was a tremendous success, attracting more than 135 participants for our FAOD scientific presentations and proving once again that INFORM is truly living up to its name, the International Network for Fatty Acid Oxidation Research and Management.
INFORM drew over 135 participants for this year’s scientific presentations. Researchers representing 24 countries attended, hailing from: Australia, Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States. Once again, the symposium proved to be a great success.
CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH – In Amsterdam, our Keynote Plenary Speaker, Deborah M. Muoio, Ph.D., Director of Basic Research, Duke Molecular Physiology Institute and Sarah W. Stedman Nutrition and Metabolism Center, opened INFORM with her presentation on “Research on Fat Metabolism, Carnitine and CRAT”, followed by a lively discussion which continued into the evening during our networking reception. An interactive poster session closed out the first day consisting of 25 posters and five junior investigators who were given the opportunity to present their research in a less formal setting at their poster during this session.
During the next day of plenary lectures, eight researchers and eight grant recipient presentations were selected from presented abstracts. The day was divided into four sessions with a panel discussion following each.
HUMAN IMPACT – Because of generous sponsorship support, we were able to partially support two families through travel grants to attend the meeting. One of the patients presented during the “New Clinical Insights” session of the meeting. We are hopeful through sponsor interest to raise more funds in the future to make it easier to support multiple members of our invited families to INFORM.
HIGHLIGHTS – The educational endeavors of INFORM brought together the best and brightest researchers and physicians from around the world to discuss cutting edge research and best and new practices in fatty acid oxidation disorders and each presentation was followed by a question and answer discussion. These Q&A discussions focused on each session’s topics as they pertained to meeting clinical care needs of patients, encouraging conversations on the causes, diagnosis, and management of inborn errors of fatty acid oxidation.
We look forward to seeing you at INFORM 2020 on October 27th and 28th …Virtually!
