What blood test would be ordered to test an adult for SCADD? Are there any medication, dietary or fasting requirements before administering the test?

Thank you for your question. SCADD is often suspected on the basis of a urine organic acid or blood acylcarnitine test, then diagnosed through DNA testing. However, please be aware that our current understanding about SCADD is that it does not cause clinical disease and therefore requires not treatment. If someone is evaluating you for a medical problem that they think is related to SCADD, they should look further for an answer.
