SCAD deficiency is diagnosed by characteristic findings in a blood acylcarnitine profile or urine organic acids. You can find a lot more information on SCAD deficiency on this web site in our INFORM families section. Our current best understanding of SCAD deficiency is that it is not a clinically meaningful condition since most babies identified through newborn screening are well.
